Solid Steel in association with Serato (25th May) This week Coldcut pay tribute to the Godfather of Go Go, Chuck Brown, who created the distinctive form of American music fusing a mixture of Funk, Latin, Soul and Caribbean rhythms. We hear music that inspired him, his work with the Soul Searchers and his Go Go classics, many of which were sampled by hip hop artists over the years and by Coldcut themselves.
In hour 2 we welcome Dobie, a legendary figure in black British music. Having worked on the first two Soul II Soul albums, produced London Posse and remixed everyone from Bjork to Gangstarr, he now has en EP 'Nothing to fear' out on Big Dada. Music featured includes Chris Turner, Nas, The Beatles and a track from Dobie.
To close DJ Irk presents his Radio For Speaking To God mix. We begin with an atmospheric Amon Tobin soundscape, complete with samples and scratches, then it's straight in to some pumping hiphop beats from Suff Daddy, Associated Minds, Quakers and more. After that it's deep in to some heavy electronic sounds from Robot Koch, Jon Phonics and KidKanevil, then an intense ramp-up for a DnB closeout.

DK returns with 'Cymatic Frequencies II' and as before it's another AV mix. This is Part 1 of 'Best of 2011', taking personal favourites from his mixes this year and adding suitable and sometimes breathtaking visuals to compliment the audio. This Video Mixtape includes a few of the artists Original video's but in most cases visuals have been sourced from animation, CGI, Short Films, archive footage and edited to each track in the mix. Some of the 2011 musical highlights include Africa Hitech, Machinedrum, Peverelist, Skream, Pearson Sound, Thundercat, Michael Kiwanuka and the Stepkids, plus there's a few dips into the archive with Wayne Smith, Tribe of Issachar, Herbie Hancock, Burial and Vangelis.
We continue with the second part of Cymatic Frequencies II by DK, the Video Mixtape reviewing some of his favourite mixes from 2011 with added visuals. Using more Original Videos from the artist this time and the quality of the music is equally as good as Part 1. It's a sombre start with Gil Scott-Heron RIP, followed by James Blake and hip hop from Paul White, Danny Brown and Shabazz Palaces. Ninja Tune feature with Mr Scruff, Toddla T, Raffertie and Fink, with Big Dada represented by Wiley & Offshore. There's 2 from Martyn on Brainfeeder, Zed Bias features 3 times and it's big club tracks from Joe Goddard, Julio Bashmore and Fourtet. Plus there's a few classics from Liquid Liquid, Radiohead and Har You Percussion group to close a visual feast.
